Madhur Bhandarkar's much-hyped movie "Heroine" has failed to set the cash registers ringing, collecting only ₹381 million in the first week at the domestic box office.
The movie's collections is ₹205 million less than the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer "Barfi" which raked in ₹586 million in the first week since its release on Sept 14.

"Heroine" had good opening weekend collections at the domestic BO, but failed to entertain movie buffs during the weekdays.
During the weekend Heroine earned ₹250 million. On Monday it raked in ₹37.5 million, ₹32.5 million on Tuesday, ₹27 million on Wednesday and ₹24 million on Thursday, trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh said.
The business of the movie on Friday, which is the start of the second week, dropped significantly collecting just ₹10 million.
Despite the negative reviews "Heroine" broke the record of previous releases like "Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu" in the Indian market.
Meanwhile, "Barfi" is still maintaining a strong position at the domestic box office in its third week.
The Anurag Basu-directed romantic comedy is currently in the midst of a controversy for lifting scenes from others classis. Despite the legal trouble, the movie continues to win audiences' hearts thanks to its great content and the endearing roles played by Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra.
"Barfi" collected ₹285.5 million during the second week taking the overall total to ₹871.5 million.
Meanwhile, two new comedy films - "OMG Oh My God!" and "Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal" - have hit the screens this week. Both movies opened to a poor response in India and so are not likely to affect the business "Barfi".
