President Barack Obama is spending his second day in New York City on Tuesday, where he will address the United Nations General Assembly, the White House said.

In addition to his stop at the U.N., Obama will also speak at the Clinton Global Initiative annual meeting. The president and his Republican presidential challenger Mitt Romney, who is also speaking at the meeting , will discuss how to best address the nation’s challenges abroad in light of the recent anti-American protests in Muslim countries.

Obama will return to the White House on Tuesday afternoon.

A taped interview that the president and the First Lady recorded Monday will air on the talk show “The View” on Tuesday.

Vice President Joe Biden will be in Virginia on Tuesday, where he will deliver remarks at a campaign event at the Chesterfield Fairgrounds. The event, in what is traditionally a Republican-voting suburb, is aimed at bolstering the Democratic vote in the swing state.

Biden is expected to defend Obama’s economic and foreign policy record. The Associated Press reports he the vice president’s speech aims to link the situation overseas with the looming defense cuts that will occur if Congress cannot agree on a bipartisan debt reduction agreement.
