Week 3 of the 2012 NFL Season concludes as the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks square off on Monday Night Football.
The contest is set to get underway at 8:30 p.m. ET at the CenturyLink Field. The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN. If you can’t get to a TV, you can watch a free live stream online at espn3.com.
Both teams enter the game at 1-1. After being upset in Week 1, each club had an easy victory last week.
The Packers bounced back last Thursday after a disappointing debut. Their defense dominated the Bears, sacking Jay Cutler seven times and intercepting him four times. Clay Matthews had one of the best individual defensive games of the young season, recording 3.5 sacks and seven tackles.
Green Bay will look to stop the Seahawks and their rookie quarterback. Russell Wilson greatly improved in his second performance. He completed 75 percent of his passes and didn’t throw a pick in Seattle’s 27-7 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
Marshawn Lynch is expected to play. The Seahawks running back has battled injuries this season, but still amassed 207 yards in two games.
Aaron Rodgers leads a Packers offense that has yet to find its rhythm in 2012. They have scored 45 total points in the first two games. Green Bay averaged 35 points per game in 2011.
The quarterback hasn’t been with his full complement of weapons thus far. Greg Jennings is questionable for the Monday night contest, and didn’t play against Chicago. Jordy Nelson is the only Packers receiver with over 100 yards on the season. He has 148 yards on 11 catches.
Rodgers hasn’t had much help from his running game. Green Bay’s running backs have combined for just 130 yards, with Cedric Benson leading the way with 99.
It’s expected to be a close game, with the Packers being favored by three points. The Seahawks have historically been the best all-time on Monday Night Football, with a record of 17-8.
Prediction: It’s never easy for opposing teams visiting Seattle, but the Packers are better than the Seahawks. Their defense bounced back against the Bears, and Rodgers is still one of the league’s top quarterbacks. Look for him to throw a couple of touchdowns in a Green Bay win.
Predicted Score: Green Bay 27, Seattle 13
