After the hellacious bout between John Cena and WWE Champion CM Punk at Night of Champions on Sept. 16, the WWE universe was left hanging with the match ending in a draw. The Cenation Leader and the Second City Saint continued to battle the next night on RAW, but Cena has since undergone surgery and will be sidelined, though the storyline will continue.

Despite not being in the condition to perform in his usual capacity, the 10-time WWE Champion is set to appear on RAW tonight. “I'll B @raw tomorrow night. When things happen, they happen #SupportGroup,” Cena tweeted yesterday, along with a picture of his injured arm.

Cena had surgery on Tuesday to have bone and cartilage fragments removed from his elbow. Despite the fact that surgeon James Andrews performed the procedure successfully, reports from WWE claim that the face of the WWE is expected to be out of action for six to eight weeks.
The timing for Cena’s departure is inopportune, being that the Night of Champions match he had with CM Punk was one of most acclaimed matches of the year, and the feud remains unfinished. Cena could take on occasional on-screen roles to keep the rivalry alive, but he will likely miss at least the next two pay-per-view.
“It’s looking like The Second City Saint will have to find himself another opponent for the evening,” writes WWE.com in their RAW preview for tonight. There is no official word on who Punk will face in a WWE Championship feud over the next month or two, but NoDQ notes that Big Show returned to face the current champion at Friday’s RAW live event.
Show could be worked into the rivalry on tonight’s RAW, even though he was last seen as a major heel. Now that Punk has taken on the role of the main WWE heel, the Giant could rework himself as a face again, though none of this is confirmed.
WWE.com has reported that Punk will confront the unnamed referee who made a bad call in the champion’s match last week. The ref called a pin on the Straight Edge Superstar despite the fact that his foot was on the bottom rope, and the worst part is it was John Cena who pinned him.
The tag division will be in the spotlight tonight, with two of the RAW preview points from WWE.com being focusing on tag teams. The Prime Time Players are expected to go after the Tag Team Titles, and the current champions Kane and Daniel Bryan are due for more dysfunctional fun.
The Ryback and Miz rivalry that started last week on the first episode of Miz’s RAW segment Miz TV will continue tonight. After Ryback destroyed the Miz TV set, WWE.com reports that “Miz hates being upstaged, and we’re pretty sure he’ll have words for the big man come Monday.”
