Get Nexus 7 look and feel on Motorola Xoom.
Motorola Xoom owners will now be able to obtain the look and feel of Nexus 7 on their tablet. An XDA senior member known as emofishcake has released a mod which will give the Motorola tablet many of the elements of the Nexus 7 user interface. According to the xda-developers forum, the mod contains framework.apk for particular device/ROM, slim NavBar, StatBar (similar dpi as Navbar symmetrical) and ClockworkMod (CWM) flashable zip.
Check out the instructions below to install the mod on your Xoom tablet. IBTimes UK advises users to proceed at their own risk and reiterate we will not be responsible for any consequences.
For v1.0 or above:
- Nandroid/framework-re/build.prop backup
- Download zip for your Motorola Xoom
- Flash using CWM recovery
For below v1.0:
- Nandroid and framework-res backup
- Replace framework-res by using ADB or root explorers
- Reboot the device [In case, you get bootloop then send back your old framework or reflash ROM without wiping]
- Mod dpi
Although it is not a major overhaul, Motorola Xoom users can still be able to get basic elements. The mod is said to be compatible only with the Wingray (Wi-Fi) version of Xoom, which has to be running TeamEOS nightlies, Codename Android or CyanogenMod (CM) nightlies.
The new Nexus 7 is the first device that runs the latest version of Android, the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). The device sports a 7in LED backlit IPS LCD capacitive touch screen that packs a resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels. The display is covered with a scratch-resistant Corning glass that protects the device from damage.
It is powered by Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz. The tablet features Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth and Near Field Communication (Android Beam). The tablet comes in two internal storage options: 8GB and 16GB. It packs 4325mAh Li-Ion battery and is expected to offer up to eight hours of active use.
