The Detroit Lions and Tennessee Titans face off in Week 3 of the 2012 NFL season.
The contest kicks off at 1 p.m. EDT at LP Field and will be broadcast on Fox. If you can’t get to a TV or don’t have the game in your local market, you can watch a live stream online by purchasing NFL Sunday Ticket Max.
Through two weeks, the Titans have been one of the worst teams in football this season. They’re one of just six teams at 0-2. Tennessee’s rough start has them 3.5-point underdogs, despite playing at home.
The Lions have narrowly avoided starting 0-2. They lost to the 49ers in Week 2 and needed a last second touchdown drive in the season opener to beat the Rams.
Tennessee has struggled on both sides of the ball. If they want to remain competitive with Detroit, they’ll have to do a better job of defending the pass. The Titans allowed five touchdowns through the air against New England and San Diego.
The Titans' secondary has the tough task of trying to stop Calvin Johnson. He might be the best wide receiver in the NFL. He has 205 receiving yards in 2012, and led the league last year with 1,681.
Mikel Leshoure is ready to make his NFL debut. The running back missed all of last season with an injury, after begin drafted in the second round. He might take some carries from Kevin Smith, who leads the Lions with 115 yards on the ground.
Perhaps the most frustrating part of the Titans season has been the play of Chris Johnson. Johnson was the league’s top running back just two years ago, but it would be hard to find one who has struggled more in the first two games. He has 21 yards on 19 carries this season.
Jake Locker leads the Titans with 32 yards on the ground. He’s near the bottom of the league with a 77.6 quarterback rating.
Prediction: The Titans might be the worst team in the NFL. The Lions haven’t played as well as they did in 2011, but they should be able to put up a lot of points on Sunday. Look for Calvin Johnson to get in the end zone on multiple occasions.
