With eyes focused on continuing their dominance of the NFC North, the San Francisco 49ers face the Minnesota Vikings Sunday afternoon at Mall of America Field.
The game begins at 1pm eastern time and will be shown by FOX, or watch a live stream online by purchasing NFL Sunday Ticket Max.
San Francisco downed the Green Bay Packers in Week One, and last week humbled the Detroit Lions 27-19.
The 49ers did not allow a touchdown until 1:29 left in the fourth quarter, forcing Detroit’s high volume passing attack to kick five field goals. Tight end Vernon Davis scored twice and made five receptions for 73 yards, while running back Frank Gore contributed 89 yards and a touchdown on 17 touches.
Continuing his calculated and efficient ways, quarterback Alex Smith went 20-for-31 for 226 yards and a rating of 107.7. Smith leads a San Francisco offense that has not given up an interception this season, which makes it one of five offenses to accomplish the feat.
Sunday will be receiver Randy Moss’ first game in Minnesota since the Vikings traded him in 2004. The veteran recorded 93 of his 154 career touchdowns while with Minnesota.
The Vikings may struggle with San Francisco’s defense, and but are .500 in close games this season.
Last week Minnesota lost a heartbreaker to the Indianapolis Colts 23-20, after quarterback Andrew Luck led a fourth quarter drive to win the game with a last second field goal.
Quarterback Christian Ponder, who ranks sixth in the NFL in passer rating, went 27-for-35 for 245 yards and two touchdowns that came in the fourth quarter, but the Minnesota defense couldn’t contain Luck.
Running back Adrian Peterson looked human with 60 rushing yards on 16 carries, while receiver Percy Harvin carried the offense with 12 receptions for 104 yards.
Betting Odds: San Francisco is favored by 7.5 points; Over/Under: 43 points
Prediction: San Francisco will shut down the run and make Ponder throw for the duration of the game. If Ponder can avoid turnovers than the Vikings have a slim chance at a win.
Predicted Score: San Francisco 20, Minnesota 13
