Good news for Yahoo! employees as they get to take home a new smartphone courtesy of the company.
Yahoo! chief executive Marisa Mayer attempted to make a cool, professional environment by giving not only free lunch but announced that the employees get to choose a new smartphone whether it is the new iPhone 5, or Android smartphone including Samsung Galaxy S3, HTC One X, HTC EVO 4G LTE or Windows Phone 8- a Nokia Lumia 920.
Who would not want to work at Yahoo!? The program is part of the 'Yahoo! Smart Phones, Smart Fun!' program, Mayer clearly is hitting at making Yahoo! the most enjoyable place to work.
Unfortunately, the program is implemented only in the US. Mayer said that the program aims to make her staff happy and to give their morale a boost. ayer also said that their bills would be footed by Yahoo!. With this plan, Mayer wants her employees to better focus on the company's efforts on mobile sector.
The memo sent by the company to the employees reads:
"We have a very exciting update to share with you today - we are announcing Yahoo! Smart Phones, Smart Fun! As of today, Yahoo is moving off of blackberries as our corporate phones and on to smartphones in 22 countries. A few weeks ago, we said that we would look into smartphone penetration rates globally and take those rates into account when deciding on corporate phones. Ideally, we'd like our employees to have devices similar to our users, so we can think and work as the majority of our users do.
Moving forward, we'll offer you a choice of devices as well as provide monthly plans for the data and phone.
The smartphone choices that we are including in the program are:
* Apple iPhone 5
- Samsung Galaxy S3
- HTC One X
- HTC EVO 4G LTE
* Windows Phone 8:
- Nokia Lumia 920
We're getting started right away and taking orders starting now"
With the recent introduction of the new iPhone 5, many employees may choose the new handset. However, there are also Android phones fans who may choose the Samsung Galaxy S3. Lastly, Windows Phone 8 raised the eyebrows of many and it is worth a look.
