Fashion's most hailed sister act, Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte, unveiled their Spring 2013 collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on Tuesday which was inspired by roly-playing games (RPG) resulting in warrior princess meets urban rocker glam.
"Spring 2013 is inspired by medieval and role playing games," the Mulleavy girls said in a statement before their show, which was attended by Anna Wintour and Kirsten Dunst, to name a few.
An adventurous collection of armor-like bodices and breastplates, chainmail belts and boxy leather jackets were juxtaposed and made less tough with feminine gowns, organza dresses and silk blouses. Metal cages and built-in jewelry were present on silhouettes ranging from evening gowns to strapless dresses to leather pants, laced together with metal grommets. The color palette was as dark the vibe of the clothes, mainly red and black, with splashes of teal and orange.
