Sudanese protesters, apparently inflamed by the anti-Islamic film "Innocence of Muslims," have stormed the German embassy in Khartoum, raised an Islamic flag and set part of the building on fire.

Already, the film in question, which portrays the Prophet Muhammad in a negative light, has sparked violence against U.S. and Western targets in Libya, Egypt and elsewhere in the Muslim world.

Reuters reported that Sudanese police fired teargas at some 5,000 demonstrators who surrounded the German embassy, but the protesters broke through, smashed windows and destroyed furniture in the facility.

Sudanese demonstrators had earlier stormed the British embassy.
