After 19 consecutive tries Jamaica upset the United States 2-1 Friday night at National Stadium to lead Group A in World Cup Qualifying round.

In their first ever victory over the Americans, Jamaica's Luton Shelton and Rodolph Austin each netted a goal off of free kicks, as the U.S. struggled to keep up with their opponents' ceaseless pressure upfront.

The Jamaicans now rest in first place of the group with seven points, and USA is now in a tie for second place with Guatemala. USA head coach Jurgen Klinsmann and his team must now beat Jamaica Tuesday Sept. 11 in Columbus, Ohio in order to stay in the hunt.

"Jamaica deserved that win. They were hungrier and they were more determined," Klinsmann said to the Associated Press. "We have to fix it now."

Originally doubtful due to injury, American Clint Dempsey scored the quickest goal in qualifying round history 36 seconds into the match off a rebound from Herculez Gomez's shot at net.

From then on the Jamaicans took over and Austin later fired a low free kick past a wall of defenders and U.S. goalie Tim Howard in the 22nd minute.

Shelton clinched the victory with a looping free kick in the top left corner in the 62nd minute of play.
