Micromax has announced the launch of yet another affordable smartphone - Micromax A25 Smarty - one day after its Superfone A87 Ninja 4 hit retail shelves in the Indian market. The dual-sim capable smartphone, which runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread and powered by a 1GHz processor, is priced at ₹3,999.
The smartphone comes with a 2.8-inch display, 256MB RAM and 1.3-megapixel fixed focus camera. It also packs a 1250 mAh battery, 120MB user memory and has microSD card support. However, the device lacks 3G connectivity on phone card as well as on sim cards.
Despite its setback on the connectivity front, the low-priced phone might create competition in the market flooded with high-end and expensive smartphones. Micromax A25 Smarty will be available with online retailer Saholic starting from Friday. This is the third smartphone launched by the company in the last seven days. The company’s Superfone A87 Ninja 4 priced at ₹5,999 is already been sold out, according to the Snapdeal website.
With the launch of its dirt-cheap smartphone, it's sure that the company opened a smartphone market for consumers on a low budget. However, it's yet to ascertained whether the smartphone will beat the much vigorous Nokia in terms of price and performance at a time when the Finnish-based company is cutting back prices of its Windows-based phones.
