Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas rebuffed claims Thursday that he wants out of Camp Nou.

Fabregas had expressed frustration with his diminished role in new manager Tito Vilanova's rotation, as he has not played a full 90-minute match, being used mainly as a substitute.

"I've always said that I play for the best team in the world, but I came here to compete, to learn and enjoy, not to sit wracking my brains," Fabregas said to Marca.

The Spanish native later backed away from those statements Thursday and said his frustration has been exaggerated.

"Current I am very calm. I knew that moments like this would come," he said. "I warned my family and my friends that this was coming. Right now, with the pressure on, is where you prove things."

Initially, Fabregas's comments sparked speculation he would return to Arsenal since the Gunners have the first option to bring him back, but the midfielder squashed those reports.

"I want to retire at the Camp Nou. Every effort I made," he said. "I did not come back here for a year or two but for a long football career here."

The 25-year-old joined Barcelona from Arsenal in 2011 for a fee of roughly £35 million, and has scored nine goals in 31 appearances.
