Finnish mobile manufacturer Nokia announced its new products in the Lumia range, 820 and 920, which will battle head on with the recently introduced phablet of Samsung - Galaxy Note 2.
Nokia introduced the new phones in the Lumia range popularly known by the codenames of "Arrow" and "Phi." The new additions are the Lumia 820 and Lumia 920 smartphones powered by Windows 8.
The Lumia 920 is considered as the star of the event with its 4.5 inch display screen, dual-core 1.5Ghz processor, wireless charging and PureView branding, similar to the previously announced - but never released in Australia - PureView 808.
Samsung is on top of the world right now and of the tech market due to the recent success of its smartphone Galaxy S3. It was quickly followed by the success of Galaxy Note. Will Nokia stand a chance to push Samsung out of its current place on top of the ladder?
Below is the comparison of the Nokia Lumia 920 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2.
Design - At first, many people, especially the critics, are turned off by Samsung Galaxy Note's large appearance and palm top look. The Nokia Lumia 920, on the other hand, is available in a variety of colors to suit the user's mood and lifestyle.
Screen Display - The Galaxy Note 2 inched ahead of Nokia with its massive 5.5 inch screen, which is currently the biggest among smartphones. Nokia Lumia 920 only has 4.5 inch display screen.
Camera - Both devices are equipped of 8MP shooters. However, Nokia promises that the Lumia 920 will allow more light to enter the lens that will enable the device to take clearer and sharper pictures.
Operating System - One of the main differences of the two smartphones is its operating system. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is packed with the latest Android software - Jelly Bean. The Lumia 920, on the other hand, is equipped with new Windows 8 OS.
Processor - Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos processor supported by 2GB of RAM. The Lumia 920 has 1.5GHz Dual Core Snapdragon S4 processor, supported by 1GB RAM and 8GB of on-board memory with a microSD card slot for expansion.
Battery Life - Nokia Lumia 920 has 1650mAh battery that supports Qi wireless charging. However, it is belittled by Galaxy Note 2's 3100 mAh battery.
With the aforementioned features, it appears that Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is a better smartphone to buy. However, there were rumors that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will be a little pricey, which may turn off some consumers. Nevertheless, it is a good thing that there are a lot of choices of smartphones in the market.
