Samsung Unveils Dual-SIM Galaxy S Duos, Galaxy Y Duos Lite in India

Samsung Electronics on Wednesday expanded its dual-sim smartphone range in India with the launch of Samsung Galaxy S Duos and Galaxy Y Duos Lite priced at ₹17,900 and ₹6,990 respectively.

With the launch of these two new models, the Korean giant hopes to cash in on the dual-sim smartphone market, which is steadily gaining popularity among consumers in the country. The company also expects a growth of 25 percent to its total mobile volume this year.

"At Samsung, we are seeking to fuel the growth of the Dual SIM market in India by launching our innovative, dual-SIM Smartphones .With the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S Duos and Galaxy Y Duos Lite , we are seeking to democratize the Smartphone market in India ," Asim Warsi, vice president of Samsung Mobile, said at a press meet.

Earlier announced in August, the Samsung Galaxy S Duo sports a 4-inch 480x800p display, a 5-megapixel rear camera and a VGA camera on the front. The device is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM7227A Snapdragon processor and runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform.

Samsung Galaxy Y Duos Lite is an entry level smartphone that uses Android 2.3 or Gingerbread OS and features a 2-megapixel primary camera. It sports a smaller 2.8-inch capacitive display backed by 832MHz single-core processor.

Both models feature Smart dual-SIM facility that allows the user to receive calls on both sim cards without any interference.

Pre-bookings for the Samsung Galaxy Y Duos Lite began two days before its launch and consumers can book the Duo Lite with an advance payment of ₹1000. At present, Samsung has five dual-SIM smartphones in the Indian smartphone market.

The company also announced beneficiary offers of 1GB 3G data or unlimited 2G data per month for six months to Samsung Galaxy Y Duos Lite buyers in a partnership with Reliance.
