Neil Armstrong: Aldrin, Collins And Other Space Heroes Join His Relatives In Memorial Service (PHOTOS)

Friends, relatives and fellow astronauts attended a private memorial service for Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon, at the Camargo Club in Cincinnati Friday.

Those who attended the memorial service include Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins, who were Armstrong's companions during the 1969 Apollo 11 mission, John Glenn, the first American to orbit Earth, and other Apollo astronauts like Alan Bean, Charles Duke, Eugene Cernan, Walter Cunningham, James Lovell, William Anders, James McDivitt and Richard Gordon, ABC News reported.

NASA Administrator Charles Bolden paid glowing tributes to the man who changed the world with "one small step."

"As we take the next giant leap forward, we stand on the shoulders of this brave, reluctant hero," said Bolden, according to NASA.

Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio, also called Armstrong "a reluctant hero."

Others who spoke on the occasion include Armstrong's sons Rick and Mark.

The media were barred from the memorial service.

Armstrong died Aug. 25, aged 82, following complications resulting from cardiovascular procedures.
