As part of the deal, Stefan Savic moves to the Serie A club, as the Premier League champions make their fourth deadline day signing in the transfer window.

"Teenager Matija Nastasic has signed for Manchester City from Fiorentina for an undisclosed fee," a City statement said.

Nastasic has been labelled the new Nemanja Vidic for his giant 6ft 2in frame and uncompromising defensive style, which is sure to endear him to the faithful at City.

In addition, Nastastic is likely prove valuable to City should boss Roberto Mancini, whose former assistant Sinisa Mihajlovic gave the defender his debut for Fiorentina, persist with a three-man defence with the teenager  possessing a host of experience in playing in the formation.

Meanwhile, Savic's departure brings an end to a torrid spell at the Etihad Stadium following his switch from Paritzan Belgrade, after which he made 11 first team appearances.
