IFA 2012 was a bumper show for Samsung, with the launch of its Galaxy Note 2 smartphone, the Galaxy Camera and a whole range of Windows 8 powered ATIV devices.

But tucked away in a corner of the enormous Samsung hall in Berlin was a range of prototypes, showing off what the South Korean company thinks is possible with Windows 8 and a laptop/keyboard hybrid.

The Samsung Memo PC concept is described as a 'real Windows PC in a compact size'. The tablet features an ergonomic shape for better grip and weight balance, and its side profile is similar to that of the Sony Xperia Tablet S.
The Memo PC also makes use of Samsung's Wacom-powered S-Pen stylus.

The Samsung Swivel prototype shown off at IFA features an "accustomed swivel hinge mechanism," making the device "slim yet rugged" which means it can perform as a proper laptop, and as a tablet without separating the keyboard and screen.

The Binder prototype features a "simple sliding slot structure mechanism" which makes for "easy mode shift" between using the device as a tablet and as a proper laptop when docked to the keyboard.
Instead of using a latch, like Asus's range of convertible laptop/tablet hybrids, the Samsung Binder simple slides into place and locks together.

The Slide features an "easy-to-use sliding hinge structure" and better connectivity with full sized ports.
Despite sliding into place, the angle of the screen can also be adjusted like a laptop.

Sporting a bright blue keyboard and pop up design, this prototype offers a "stable touch experience and improved ventilation," while bring apparently comfortable to use. Touch inputs should work well, with the screen being at a good angle.
