Randy Jackson is officially off American Idol, sources connected to the hit Fox show tell TMZ. Thirty Mile Zone is reporting that Jackson, who's been a judge on the show since its beginning in 2002, is officially leaving the judge's table, but will still remain a part of the show as a "mentor."

Jackson is the last remaining original member of the judge's panel and is reportedly being replaced by YMCMB recording artist Nicki Minaj.

TMZ goes on to cite "sources" who tell them that the deal with the "Starships" rapper is 99 percent done, "but still not a sure thing just yet."

News of Minaj's presence as a contender for the position surfaced around mid-August. Rumors followed that indicated disapproval from recently confirmed judge Mariah Carey.

Multiple news outlets reported that Carey was unhappy with Minaj being a prospect for the position and simply did not want her at the judges table. The possible conflict is said to only make producers want Minaj more because tension will be good for the show, according to TMZ.

Producers are reportedly seeking out a fourth judge, while they are also looking to fill the third seat with someone from the country music world. Rumored prospects P.Diddy and Kanye West are reportedly out of the running for the position.

Season twelve of American Idol is set to premiere in January.
