Katy Perry Turned Down Offer To Become A Judge For ‘American Idol’ [PHOTOS]
Singer Katy Perry has reportedly turned down the offer to become a judge on the TV reality talent search "American Idol." The "Part of Me" singer also refused the offer of a staggering $20 million pay to join Mariah Carey on the judging panel when the hit United States show returns in January 2013.
According to recent reports, Katy Perry is the latest name to be linked in becoming a judge for the successful singing competition show. "She was being hotly pursued," a source told Us Weekly. "They really wanted her," the source added. Meanwhile, Perry is not exactly going to budge anytime soon and she has already made it clear to the producers that she is just not playing hardball.
When Katy Perry was asked last month about becoming a TV talent show judge, the 27-year old singer claimed that she was unsure if it will be the right career move for her. "People have reached out to me about the possibility of being involved and it's not right for me yet," Perry said.
"Aerosmith" front man Steven Tyler and singer-actress Jennifer Lopez announced last month that they are leaving the TV show and reports are now surrounding the remaining Idol judge Randy Jackson that he might just take more of a back seat mentoring role when "American Idol" returns.
Since Katy Perry said no, it looks like diva Mariah Carey is still sitting solo at the "American Idol" judges table. However, Carey is also recruiting others to join her on the judging panel and she reportedly wants a man judge. Who does she have in mind? Mariah Carey is said to be backing up rock star Lenny Kravitz for the position.
Meanwhile, there are also other rumored famous names that happen to be on the run for the "American Idol" judging roles such as Alanis Morissette, Nicki Minaj, Nick Jonas, Pharell Williams and Keith Urban. Even Kanye West has expressed his interest to become a judge. So, who do you think will be the new judge for another season of "American Idol?"
