The focus of this week's Apple media event will undoubtedly be the next-generation iPhone, but consumers might be talking tablets rather than phones after this Wednesday's product unveiling. Most news outlets and sources close to the company say Apple will also introduce a new "iPad Mini" to its tablet lineup. We don't know the exact features or specs that Apple has packed into the iPad Mini, but we nevertheless have a pretty good idea of what CEO Tim Cook might unveil on stage this Wednesday.

"Apple's next generation iPhone and its so-called 'iPad Mini' will debut at two separate events this fall, rather than a single one as has been widely speculated, according to several sources...," according to the report.

"Only after the next generation iPhone is out the door and on sale will Apple announce the smaller iPad it's been working on. That device, which is expected to have a display of less than eight inches, will be uncrated at a second special event, which sources said is currently scheduled for October," AllThingsD published.

This new rumors confirmed the speculations that Apple is really releasing a small tablet despite Steve Jobs' statement before that the company will not develop such device because the size is unable to express the full features of the gadget.

iPad Mini is rumored to have 7.3 mm thick, 134.73mm wide, 200.13mm long, and feature a mini dock connector, redesigned speakers, and add a microphone on the backside. Moreover, the iPad Mini will feature a rear camera and a front camera for FaceTime, although the pixels of shooters are not yet revealed.

According to Macotakara's Asian source, the smaller iPad will have "iPad Mini" printed on the back on the device. However, this may not be the case.

Apple surprised everyone when it released the third generation of iPad and named it the "New iPad." The name iPhone 5 is still in debate whether the Cupertino-based company will name it "New iPhone."

The much anticipated iPad Mini is expected to battle head on with Google Nexus 7 and other 7-inch tablets.
