There was once a time that Katie Holmes and Victoria Beckham looked at each other for fashion tips and inspiration.

Now, it appears that their friendship may even be put to the test for the two is set to clash and fight their respective fashion style out on the catwalk at the New York fashion week next month.

The 33-year old "Dawson's Creek" actress will debut her "Holmes & Yang" collection while the 38-year old former Spice Girls member will stage her "VB Show" at the New York Public Library. Both events are reported to take place on the same night of September 9.

Katie Holmes and Victoria Beckham were once inseparable. Holmes was even often seen sporting Victoria Beckham's creations or attending a couple of events together wearing similar outfits. However, their friendship has fizzled out and turned sour as the cracks appeared in Holmes' marriage to Tom Cruise which eventually ended up in divorce.

Meanwhile, reports are claiming that the newbie to the designer world Katie Holmes is planning to use the current publicity that surrounds her high-profile divorce from Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise as an advantage to steal the limelight from the professional Victoria Beckham.

"Katie is definitely hoping to upstage Victoria," the source revealed. "This is her first show and she's determined to prove that she can pull it off," the source added.

It looks like the battle is really on between the two with Victoria Beckham reportedly to be desperate in promoting her VB range. In other reports, it seems that the catwalk is not the only thing that makes Victoria Beckham nervous. Her friend and other Spice Girls member Emma Bunton has helped the "Posh Spice" to calm down before their performance at the 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony.

Now that Katie Holmes is set to debut her "Holmes & Yang" collection, does Victoria Beckham feel nervous and threatened with Katie Holmes' debut in the fashion world? Or will it just be a friendly competition between the two?

Victoria Beckham might very well be the designer to beat at the 2012 Oscars. According to The Mirror, Beckham has received orders for Oscar gowns from the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, Charlize Theron and Cameron Diaz. All three A-listers have reportedly asked the beautiful Brit to design their Oscar gowns.
