Evelyn Lozada And Chad 'Ochocinco' Johnson, Kim Kardashian And Kris Humphries And The Shortest Celebrity Marriages [PHOTOS]
Everyone knows the traditional wedding vows recited when a couple marries: "To have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part."
With many marriages folding recently, it seems the "until death do us part" portion was forgotten by many celebrities.
Just 41 days after their wedding, which was live tweeted by Ochocinco himself, Evelyn Lozada filed for divorce from her new husband, Chad Johnson. According to TMZ, the 37-year-old "Basketball Wives" star filed papers in Florida Tuesday, claiming her marriage was "irretrievably broken" after the Miami Dolphins receiver allegedly attacked her.
"I am deeply disappointed that Chad has failed to take responsibility for his actions and made false accusations against me," Lozada told TMZ after the report became public. "It is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles. Domestic violence is not okay and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well."
Ochocinco was arrested on Saturday for misdemeanor simple domestic battery for allegedly headbutting his wife.
The fight reportedly began when Lozada found a receipt for condoms in Johnson's personal belongings. A report emerged that Johnson had cheated on Lozada with a woman named Beverly Shiner, who said told Radar Online was contacted by the NFL star on Twitter for dinner.
"I Googled him before we met and saw he was engaged, but at the time there were reports that she had broken it off because she thought he was cheating, so I assumed they had split up," she told Radar. "While I was there he called Evelyn and asked if she could order a pizza to be delivered for him, and even had her pay for it on her credit card. I thought it was odd and wondered if she was really his fiancee or just a secretary.'"
The divorce of Evelyn Lozada and Chad Johnson comes just after one of the most infamous Hollywood splits when Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphires ended their marriage just 72 days after their wedding. Citing "irreconcilable difference," the reality star and NBA player appeared to have been a happy couple, with their nuptials televised on E!, viewed by more than 4.4 million people.
Most infamously, Britney Spears was engaged in the shortest celebrity marriages of all time, after marrying and divorcing her childhood friend Jason Allen Alexander in Las Vegas in under 55 hours.
But Spears and Alexander are not the world record holders for shortest vows. In November, 1919, Italian actor Rudolph Valentino and actress Jean Acker split after just six hours into their marriage while still on their honeymoon. They officially divorced, however, in 1921 citing desertion.
Here's a roundup of some of the shortest-lived celebrity marriages in history, from longest to shortest (known).
