With the wide array of rumors emerging about iPhone 5, such as the $800 price tag and the new and smaller dock connector, as well as the news that Samsung Galaxy S3 just keeps getting better, is it still worthy to wait for the upcoming iPhone 5?
As usual, tech giant Apple is tight-lipped about the details of its latest smartphone. However, numerous rumors sprung up surrounding the handset. The latest speculation is that Apple is developing the thinnest iPhone yet. Analysts predicted that we will be seeing a 7.66mm thin iPhone 5.
Taiwanese daily newspaper Apple Daily published a report claiming that the new iPhone 5 will be skinnier. Earlier reports have suggested that the device will be taller than the current model and feature an expanded display.
The article concluded that the iPhone 5's final measurement specs will be 58.47mm x 123.83mm x 7.6mm. As with previous iterations, thickness is expected to be equal across the body.
Another rumor surrounding the device is its smaller micro dock connector. Previous iPhones sport a30-pin dock connector and earlier reports claimed that it will be replaced with 19-pin dock connector. This may impact consumers who would like to upgrade as they will also have to upgrade their accessories using 30-pin.
New reports said that the new iPhone 5 will have a 9-pin dock connector. The beta version of iOS 6 holds proof on this claim. Smaller dock connector will yield more space inside for greater features.
In a statement early this month, Apple's chief executive Tim Cook said that the numerous rumors surrounding the iOS devices hurt the company's sales. The Apple chief said this upon the release of the second quarter financial report of the company.
Based on the beta version of Apple's mobile operating system iOS 6, iPhone 5 will be dropping a lot of things not only in hardware designs but some of the much-loved Google products as well.
Google Maps and YouTube may not make a comeback in the new iPhone 5. It is speculated that these products will be replaces by Apple's variants, Apple Maps and iOSYouTube.
Moreover, the Cupertino-based company may be ditching its microSIM support and will be replaced with nanoSIM support.
Apple fell into second place in the smartphone market behind its main competitor Samsung. With minimal changes made on the outside, we can only hope that the Apple packed more inside the new iPhone 5. Some of the rumored features of the upcoming iPhone 5 are 4G/LTE capability, A6 chip and equipped by the new iOS 6.
It was first reported that the new iPhone will be released on August 7. New reports claimed that Apple will launch the device on September 12 and will be available on September 21.
