NASA's Curiosity rover is the best inanimate object to follow on Twitter. It has been providing colorful commentary all along its 36-week flight to Mars. Here's hoping it continues to do so throughout its two-year mission.

Curiosity -- most likely with the help of a human -- has been tweeting updates throughout its 36-week voyage to Mars.

Less than a week after being launched, Curiosity was making good time.

Curiosity made good on its New Year's resolution -- all the more reason to feel guilty about that gym equipment that has been collecting dust in the corner since March.

In just 15 years, NASA has put up ever-more complex kinds of rovers on the Red Planet, from the diminutive Sojourner to the 400-pound twins, Spirit and Opportunity, to Curiosity, which is the biggest yet at around 2,000 pounds.

Curiosity's radiation detector has already contributed significant data to NASA researchers. By examining how much radiation the rover was exposed to on its journey, scientists can get a sense of the conditions future humans would face on manned missions to Mars.

"Attitude" refers to a spacecraft's frame of reference to various celestial objects. As Curiosity sped away from Earth, its antenna needed to be repositioned occasionally to keep the connection to Earth alive.

Even hundreds of millions of miles away, Curiosity managed to keep an eye on the London Olympics.

NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, which has been circling the Red Planet since 2006, was able to snap a picture of Curiosity as it parachuted onto the planet's surface.

Curiosity landed in the Gale Crater, which is about 96 miles across and is also home to a 3.4 mile-high mountain called Aeolis Mons.
