The full moon on Friday staged a stunning display adding a unique sixth ring to the Olympic Rings logo hanging from London's Tower Bridge.

Reuter's photographer Luke MacGregor captured the magnificent photo of the full moon tinged with red forming the sixth ring. A series of photographs showed the moon slowly making its transition into the trademarked logo before perfectly aligning itself to the multi-coloured rings that graced London's skyline.

The breathtaking image was uploaded on social networking site Twitter on Saturday morning, with some users calling the snapshot as "epic", "picture perfect", "Fabulous photo", and a "must see pic".

"Awesome:"Six ring" Olympic logo (thanks, moon)," one user tweeted on Twitter.

"Best Olympic picture of the day so far. The moon rising between the Olympic Rings on Tower Bridge," another wrote.

"What a great picture, A full moon behind the Olympic rings on Tower bridge."

"The 6th Olympic ring - the full moon rising through the Olympic rings at Tower Bridge."

However, some comments on the stunning photo facetiously pointed to the International Olympic Committee's trademark polices regarding the use of Olympics slogans and names related to the global games.

"Now the moon gets sued by IOC for logo infringement," one twitter user joked.

"Moon taken to court by IOC for violating Olympic brand ban," another user quipped on the website.

According to the International Trademark Association, the names "UNITED STATES OLYMPIC COMMITTEE", the five interlocking rings that symbolize the Games, the words "Olympic", "Olympiad", "Citius Altius Fortius", "Paralympic", "Paralympiad" and several other names are protected by a section in the U.S. statute.

The interlocking rings, designed by Olympics founder Baron Pierre de Coubertin in 1912, symbolize the five major continents taking part in the sporting event.
