Leryn Franco is one of the most famous athletes at the 2012 Olympics. However, it's not for her prowess on the field of play.
The javelin thrower from Paraguay is known for being one of the best-looking athletes at the London Olympic games. According to BuzzFeed, she was the second most-searched athlete at the 2008 Olympics behind American swimmer Michael Phelps. While Phelps won eight gold medals, Franco came in just 51st in the javelin throw.
Not only is she an athlete, but Franco also has experience as a model. She was featured in the 2011 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition and was named the runner-up to Miss Paraguay in 2006. She also participated in the 2007 Miss Bikini Universe pageant.
She has garnered a lot of attention because of her beauty, but Franco isn't expected to be very competitive when it's time for her to perform. She has improved over the years but hasn't proven that she has a chance to win a medal.
Franco will get her chance to qualify for the women's javelin throw on Aug. 7. The finals are scheduled for Aug. 9 at 4 p.m. ET.
