Talk about having the "Moves like Jagger." According to reports, Britain's Prince Charles was jealous when the late Princess Diana gave an invitation to Sir Mick Jagger for a tea at the Kensington Palace way back in 1981.
Can you think of any reason why this member of the Royal Family should be jealous or annoyed of the famous English lead vocalist of The Rolling Stones?
Prince Charles, heir to the throne, was also reportedly annoyed with his then-wife Princess Diana's out of the blue decision of inviting the rock star. According to Christopher Andersen, the author of a new book titled "Mick: The Wild Life and Mad Genius of Mick Jagger," Prince Charles was clearly unimpressed with Princess Diana, who was his new spouse at that time, to arrange a meeting with the womanizing musician. Prince Charles even demanded that she must revoke the given invitation.
After a fight, Princess Diana finally agreed to cancel the tea meeting arrangement. Instead, she invited English singer and songwriter Phil Collins. Diana said afterwards "Charles was appalled. It's the kind of silly thing the Royal Family never forgets," Princess Diana said afterwards.
Ten years later, Prince Charles and Mick Jagger cross paths once again. This time, Prince Charles was still unhappy when Jagger kept one hand in his pocket while he shook hands with the Royal at the Prince's Trust dinner.
On the other hand, there were also reports claiming that Queen Elizabeth herself obviously avoided handing over the knighthood title to Mick Jagger. It has been said that the Queen seldom questions the decision of the Government when it comes to awarding an honor. However, there is a very notable exception. When Tony Blair proposed that Mick Jagger should get the knighthood title, the Queen was deliberately in doubt and avoided handing the title in person.
The Queen felt that Jagger was a corrupting influence on her sister, the late Princess Margaret, who was known to socialize with the "The Rolling Stones" singer on the Caribbean Island of Mustique. Well, it looks like the two powerful members of the Royal Family are really not in favor of Sir Mick Jagger.
