Actor Sam Claflin will be playing Finnick Odair in "Catching Fire" -- the hunky District 4 Champ who becomes allies with Katniss Everdeen during the third Quarter Quell, according to Variety, which reported that Lionsgate made him an offer.

Sam Claflin as Finnick Odair
Finally an actor has been cast in the role of Finnick Odair for the "Hunger Games" second installment "Catching Fire," set to hit theaters in November 2013.
Where have you seen this man before? Sam Claflin most recently played William in "Snow White and the Huntsman" along with Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth (whose brother Liam plays Gale Hawthorne in "The Hunger Games.")
It had been rumored that Robert Pattinson might play Finnick Odair, or possibly 90210's "sexpot" Trevor Donovan, according to celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, but it seems the British stud Claflin was able to surpass the rest.

Bronze hair, flashy green eyes and extremely good looking -- Sam Claflin is not far from how author Suzanne Collins described Finnick Odair.
Some more rumors? Supposedly Lionsgate is interested in casting Melissa Leo to play the role of Odair's tormented mentor, Mags, according to E! News. But rhe site also dished that Leo hasn't even been approached for the role yet.
And that's not all. It's also been reported that Amanda Plummer will be playing the seemingly mentally fragile (yet the one who decipher the clock arena) Wiress, and Tony Shalhoub is allegedly wanted for the important role of the crafty bomb make Beetee.
Award-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman has just signed on in the role for Plutarch Heavensbee, the Head Gamemaker for the 75th Hunger Games.
Melissa Leo recently won an Oscar in her role in "The Fighter," so it wouldn't be surprising if she were cast as Mags. Tony Shalhoub, similarly, is renowned for his work on "Monk" and in "Cars."
Do you think Sam Claflin will portray Finnick Odair well, or is there someone else you would have rather seen cast as the District 4 Tribute Odair?
