"American Idol" is going through a major makeover. On Thursday, Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler announced he no longer wanted to be a judge on the show, and now Jennifer Lopez has officially announced that she's leaving "Idol."

Mariah Carey is rumored to be furious that Nicki Minaj may join her on the judging panel of "American Idol"
Mariah Carey is allegedly joining the show to fill in the celebrity judge void left by Lopez, according to ShowBiz411.
"I honestly feel like the time has come that I have to get back to doing the other things that I do. We had an amazing run," Lopez told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show.
"I know they want me back, I know that I want to go back, but it's not as simple as that," Lopez told the Associated Press after Tyler announced he would be leaving the show. "When I started 'Idol' ... I signed on for one year. I didn't even think about doing it for two years, let alone three years. To make the decision to go back a second year was a big deal for me."

Tyler referred to "American Idol" as his mistress when he made his statement that he would be leaving the hit show, "After some long, hard, thoughts, I've decided it's time for me to let go of my mistress 'American Idol' before she boils my rabbit."
He continued: "I strayed from my first love, Aerosmith, and I'm back -- but instead of begging on my hands and knees, I've got two fists in the air and I'm kicking the door open with my band. The next few years are going to be dedicated to kicking some serious ass -- the ultimate in auditory takeover."
Rumors were also circulating that Randy Jackson did not want to participate in the show any longer, either, but considering Jackson has worked with Mariah Carey in the past, he might be staying on the show, too, according to ShowBiz411.
"Idol" is seeking celebrity judges to compete with shows like the "X-Factor," which recently acquired Britney Spears and Demi Lovato, and "The Voice," which has star judges such as Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green, and Christina Aguilera, NJ.com reported.
