On July 11, participating 7-Eleven stores nationwide and in Canada will hand out free 7.11 ounce Slurpee drinks, its own signature sweet-flavored frozen slushee beverage, until 7pm as a promotion for its birthday celebration.
Customers can simply ask for a free, 7.11-ounce Slurpee at participating 7-Eleven and Cinemark locations, while supplies last.
"7-Eleven Day, or free Slurpee Day, gets bigger and more popular every year," Joe DePinto, 7-Eleven president and CEO, said in a statement. "This year we expect to give away 7 million Slurpee drinks, more than ever before, beating last year's offer by 2 million. On July 11th, we at 7-Eleven will recognize our 85th year as the retail leader of convenience, and it will mark the 45th birthday of our iconic drink - the Slurpee. But the day is also when we do something special to thank customers for their support and welcome new guests."
This year, the Dallas-based company will also have "birthday attire" including tiny bowties, hair bows and two sizes of party hats available for download at the 7-Eleven website. Cinemark will also honor Free Slurpee Day by giving free 7.11-ounce Slurpee drinks at participating theaters in Dallas, Houston, Salt Lake City and Portland from 7 to 11 p.m.
