Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh is on around €3 million per year, according to Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade, with the club sighting that as the main reason they won't be taking him on this summer.

Yesterday Arsene Wenger claimed that the Italian outfit had made enquiries about Chamakh, with the view of making a purchase to beef up their front line.

But with his sky high wages at Arsenal, Prade has insisted that the club have other striking options in mind.

"Have we made an offer for Chamakh? We have not made one because he earns 3million euros [per season]," he told Sport Italia.

"We hope to complete [Ajax forward] El Hamdaoui's transfer tomorrow [Wednesday].

Marouane Chamakh is not leaving Arsenal for Fiorentina.

"He is a striker that our coach [Vincenzo Montella] likes a lot."

Chamakh has long been connected with an exit from Arsenal, and despite Robin van Persie looking likely to leave the Emirates either this summer or the next, the Morocco international is still said to be considering his position in the wake of the club purchasing Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski.

Both Podolski and Giroud are touted for big things up front with Arsenal, and Chamakh will likely struggle yet again to get the game time he hopes for, whether van Persie stays or goes next season.

The star, who spent time away from the Gunners in January on account of the Africa Cup of Nations, insisted he was committed to competing for a place in the Arsenal line up on many occasions.

But with his time on the pitch not improving as the season wore on, it could be a real possibility that Arsene Wenger will see good business in selling him to fund more new faces as the club look to end their trophyless run.
