Comic-Con 2012 kicks off in just a few days in San Diego, and fans attending are spreading the thrill on social networks. Those posting their photos at the London Film & Comic Con are drumming up the thrill for the upcoming U.S. event.

Only those who have not embraced their inner geek are not familiar with Comic-Con. You would probably want to be there, but you just don't know it yet.

What is the Comic-Con? 

The U.S. grand Comic-Con, otherwise known as the San Diego Comic-Con International (SDCC), is a four-day event (Thursday-Sunday) held during summer in southern California. It is a multigenre convention attended by creators, producers, talents and fans of comic books, films, television shows and all other imaginable pop culture icons.

The Comic-Con is typically attended by a huge crowd of fans who know their favorite characters from head-to-toe, even from their back stories to future story arcs. Many of these fans grace the show with a cosplay (costume play), something a lot of highly imaginative and creative people enjoy.

If you enjoy "The Big Bang Theory," chances are, you would want to be at the Comic-Con

Comic-Con is often mentioned by the brilliant-and-nerdy characters of the CBS television sitcom "The Big Bang Theory." For instance, on Season 2 Episode 2 (The Codpiece Topology), Sheldon tells Leonard to think of happy thoughts after his shortlived relationship with Leslie came to an end.

Sheldon: Look on the bright side.
Leonard: What's the bright side?
Sheldon: Only nine more months to comic-con.
Leonard: Oh yeah.

If the guys in the sitcom are excited "nine more months" til Comic-Con, imagine the thrill and joy building up for the fans now that the grand event is only three days away.

Walking Dead, Fringe, release new posters at SDCC
