An unidentified man might have coined the phrase of the summer on Friday when he shouted "This is my beach"...before driving his car into the ocean.

Long Beach, California got quite a surprise when a white Nissan Maxima drove into the Pacific Ocean. The distraught driver yelled "This is my beach" as well as his Social Security number as he drove around the area before plunging into four feet deep water.

The Contra Costa Times reports that after the crash, the driver tried to swim deeper in the water, but was picked up by lifeguards and subdued on shore until police arrived. A passenger was also reported to be in the car, but fled into the bluffs following the cruise into the water. The driver of the car is currently being held for psychological observation.

The incident occurred around 3:30 P.M. on Cherry Beach, near Junipero Avenue and Ocean Boulevard.

Long Beach Fire Captain Rich Brandt told the Long Beach Press-Telegram that while the beach was crowded, "Fortunately, no one was hurt."

A backhoe and tow truck were used to remove the car from the water.
