The film divided the critics. Some critics and reviewers say that the reboot is awesome, especially the acting of Andrew Garfield. However, there are critics that say that the reboot is a total mess in many ways.
The film hinted that it may release a sequel. Below are some of the villains that young Peter Parker may face.
- Chameleon - The Chameleon was one of the first supervillains of Spider-Man. He is a master of disguise and is also a spy. There is a possibility that Chameleon is the antagonist in the next movie since the villain can change faces.
- Mysterio - Master of illusion Mysterio is one of the most persistent adversaries of Spider-Man. He would be a good choice as a villain for the sequel.
- Rhino - One of Spider-Man most powerful foes is the Rhino. The back story of being a poor immigrant from Russia who tries to make a living by robbing banks could be a great plot.
- Scorpion - Based from the movie, Webb likes a plot with connection falling back to Peter Parker. The Scorpion is a villain hired by J. Jonah Jameson's madness. Jonah hired detective Mac Gargan to subject himself to an experiment that would endow him with the characteristics of a scorpion in order to defeat Spidey. The experiment worked, but Gargan went insane and turned on Jonah.
- Kingpin - Kingpin is a fat but agile villain. His intelligence as a criminal mastermind that makes him such a worthy foe. He recently put a hit on Spider-Man which resulted in Aunt May being shot by a sniper. He is a probable villain for the next film since the people behind Curt Conner's experiment can be a mafia-like organization.
