Naomi Watt's first set of images playing the role of the late Princess Diana were recently released and has been making a lot of buzz since Monday.
The English actress who first got her break in Australia is all set to play the late and most loved royal icon and the mother to Princes Harry and William. The upcoming movie is entitled as 'Caught in Flight.'
Watts was seen on the Croatia set wearing a sparkling dress embellished with all the jewels and the traditional blonde, cropped hair of Princess D. Another photo features the actress wearing a dark shaded business suit.
The Plot of The Princess Diana Film
The film 'Caught in Flight' discussed the last couple of years in the life of Princess Diana. It will include all her charity work done around the globe especially in central Europe. It will also tackle her rumoured affair with a heart surgeon by the name of Dr. Hasnat Khan.
On accepting the role as Princess Diana for a film that is directed by Oliver Hirshbiegel, Watts admitted that it was too daunting for her to accept.
"She is a part of our history, an incredible woman and fascinating but a tragic ending," Watts said in her interview with Press Association. "I'm looking forward to it, but am absolutely terrified," she added in another interview with Daily Mail.
The upcoming film on Princess Diana can be expected to hit the big screen by next year.
Before the role was even given to Watts, there were other female actresses considered for the role. Check out the slideshow to find out about these celebrities!

Carey Mulligan
A rare talent who can actually play both older and younger, Carey Mulligan has an assured maturity about her that some of the biggest Hollywood names still lack.
Her performance as Jenny Mellor in An Education set her star on the rise and her stoic, poised playing of Kathy in sci-fi weepy Never Let me Go was one of the best displays of 2010.
Although Ryan Gosling stole the limelight in Drive, Mulligan managed to create a realistic love interest that was more than just a pretty face with just a handful of lines of dialogue.
The Academy will beckon in the near future.
