When it comes to entering into politics Tamil film superstar Rajinikanth always keeps a safe distance.

According to reports, the meeting lasted for more than 30 minutes and Karunanidhi's wife Dayalu Ammal, his son and former Deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin also attended the meeting.

As soon as the news of Rajini meeting Karunanidhi broke, the superstar came up with an explanation saying that, "This is just a courtesy call."

"I was in Bangalore when Karunanidhi celebrated his birthday on June 3. So I could not meet him to wish him personally. Now that am back, I came to greet him," he added.

"We did not discuss any other matter. I conveyed birthday wishes and the senior leader thanked me."

According to sources, no political matter was discussed between the two.
