Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis: A Long-Term Relationship Gone Wrong?
After months of tap dancing around the difficult questions about their long-term relationship, the truth is finally out. Hollywood superstar Johnny Depp split on friendly terms from French model and singer girlfriend Vanessa Paradis.
The break-up comes after 14 years as the couple was reported to drift apart as well as following the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor being linked with his "The Rum Diary" co-star Amber Heard in April.
"It's so sad. Johnny and Vanessa gambled that they could move to California and be on long stays on film locations for his career. They bet that things would continue there as they had in the south of France. They lost that bet," an insider shared regarding the amicable split. Paradis went on for seven years between albums and films while Depp became Captain Jack Sparrow in the "Pirates of the Carribean" films.
Last January, it emerged that Depp and Vanessa were already living separate lives by staying in different hotels while in the same city. Because of that, rumors started to develop that the relationship between the two was already in tatters.
The couple denied any rift. Just last month, Depp repeated his denials of split reports while he was in London. However, he and Paradis have not been seen together since and they have not even attended several red carpet bashes together in over a year.
It is believed that as Depp's profile rose to stardom, the couple was forced to spend more time in Hollywood and tensions begin to develop in their relationship. Depp has established himself as one of Hollywood's most bankable stars with the success of 2003's "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl."
The actor is now reported to be worth a staggering £200million. Meanwhile, Vanessa appeared to put her singing and acting career behind to look after their children while Depp is busy working on his films. Could this be one of the probably many reasons why they decided to split?
Celebrity love may seem doomed but in several Hollywood couples have outlasted the relatively lengthy Depp-Paradis partnership. Take a look at the pictures of these Hollywood couples whose relationship is still going strong.
