Korean-based firm, Samsung just announced that they will be releasing a pair of over-the-air (OTA) updates for its highly succesful smartphone, Samsung Galaxy S3.
Samsung Galaxy S3 OTA Updates
The Samsung Galaxy S III OTA updates are estimated to be around 15.57MB and 31.17MB which is dependent on the initial firmware of the smartphone. In order to access this update, users should follow these simple steps:
- Go to Android Setting Menu
- Tap "About Device
- Select "Software Update" (A pop-up message will appear indicating the first and bigger package)
- A second update will appear and will alter the firmware version number indicating "I9300BUALF1.DM."
There are no reported "major" changes with this update and in fact, this is reportedly for "improved stability". Some experts consider this update as Samsung's way of "polishing" the Samsung Galaxy S III before it can be released in U.S. and Canada.
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1
On the other hand, another Samsung device is also making its way in the market as the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is already up for pre-orders through Amazon. According to the posting, the shipping for this device would be around 3-5 weeks. After hearing that, interested customers flocked to Amazon which resulted to the ad being taken down due to high demand of pre-orders.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 was discussed before during the MWC 2012 (Mobile World Congress) and one of its defining features is the S-Pen from Samsung. It is one of the few tablets that utilize the use of a stylus or pen which can improve productivity when using a tablet. The original specification from the MWC 2012 presentation shows it that it will have a 1.4-GHz dual-core processor. In the pre-order listing by Amazon, this was changed thus having a quad-core processor which makes it a more powerful tablet. The selling price for this tablet is around US$550.
Samsung has not yet announced if the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 will also be available for pre-order in Australia.
