Several days before their comeback gig and reunion, iconic heavy metal band Black Sabbath was given tribute and the highest of honours at London's Kerrang! Awards last Thursday.

Black Sabbath, which is composed of Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler and Tony Lommi received the Inspiration Award at the award giving event of the popular UK Magazine. The band then was also preparing for the Britain's Download Festival which transpired just last Sunday.

Aside from the band, it was also a memorable night for yet another rock icon, Slash, the former guitarist of Guns N' Roses, for receiving the Icon honour award. Slash expressed his heartfelt thanks over his Twitter account and took the time to thank his fans and supporters for voting for him.

The rest of the music categories included bands like You Me At Six, Iron Maiden and Enter Shakiri amongst many others. My Chemical Romance had a close battle with Evanescence and 30 Seconds To Mars for Best International Band.

It was Mastodon who took the trophy for Best Album and the Best Single was given to Black Veil Brides' Rebel Love Song.

It was interesting too that the Villain of the Year award was given to Justin Bieber with One Direction and Simon Cowell as the main contenders.
