Fourteen dismembered bodies were found inside an abandoned truck in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas on Thursday. Authorities say that the 11 men and three women are the latest victims of turf wars between rival drug cartels, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Last year, a mass grave containing 183 people was found in Tamaulipas, which is one of the most dangerous states in Mexico thanks to its proximity to the Texas border. The grave contained the bodies of migrants, tourists and civilians who were allegedly murdered by the powerful Los Zetas cartel, whose territory includes Tamaulipas and much of Mexico's east coast.

In the six years since President Felipe Calderon began his crackdown against drug trafficking, more than 50,000 people have died in Mexico.
