Hollywood Men Who Could Play Christian Grey in '50 Shades of Grey': From Ian Somerhalder to Alexander Skarsgard [PHOTOS]
From downloadable E-book forms to the paperback copy, James has got the world wrapped around her finger. With the popularity of the book coming to an all new high, the stakes are up on which Hollywood star is best suit to play the dastardly male lead, Christian Grey.
E.L. James erotica novel, "Fifty Shades of Grey" continues to rise up the charts. To date, it has hit the New York Times' bestseller list since the beginning of March.
"Fifty Shades of Grey" has been described over various webloids as "mommy porn". Given it was based on Edward Cullen and Isabella Swan of "Twilight", most readers of the book comprise of hard core Twi-hard fans.
Now that the novel has garnered the attention of a few Hollywood stars, actors are expressing interest on playing the male lead, Christian Grey. With a lot of good-looking actors in Hollywood, who is best suited to play the brooding 27-year old billionaire?
Robert Pattinson had been the original inspiration behind Christian Grey, but given a lot of dastardly looking actors in Hollywood, RPatz should step aside. Two other vampires are up for the role, one being "Vampire Diaries" Ian Somerhalder and another being "True Blood's'" Alexander Skarsgard.
"I absolutely would be up for that. It could be very, very amazing," said Ian in an interview with Ryan Seacrest.
"I have the book and I just started reading it. That would be a pretty incredible thing, and hopefully that could pan out. Beyond the shadow of a doubt, I think that would be a phenomenal opportunity!"
35-year old, Alexander Skarsgard, on the other hand is up for the S&M part.
"Where do I sign? ... He's got a sex chamber? My character has that on True Blood. He's got his little dungeon. ... I was born to play that part," shares Alex in an interview with Access Hollywood.
Other notable actors who would fit the role of the BDSM character are Christian Bale of "The Dark Knight Rises", Michael Fassbender of "Shame," Patrick Dempsey of "Made of Honor" and Armie Hammer of "The Social Network". Even the highly-esteemed football player, David Beckham, has been mentioned as a worthy Christian Grey in a few webloids.
