The Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona went into its second day Tuesday without the Samsung Galaxy S3 or iPhone 5, but there were many other hot new gadgets you won't want to miss.

Much of the focus is on smartphones, and rightly so as consumers continue to dump their feature phones en masse, but there were just as many tablets released as Apple's rivals brace for the iPad 3 drop March 7. Sony showed off its Tablet P and let it be known the  dual-screen folding tablet is coming to AT&T on Sunday for $400 on contract. Asus dumped several new tablets, including the Transformer Pad Infinity series.

Samsung will hold its own press conference, sometime before July, to announce the Galaxy S3 smartphone, but it also announced new tablets at MWC. HTC dropped the biggest newsmaker on day one with the quad-core One X, but there were really no other game-changing phones offered up on day two. There were plenty of nice devices displayed, but because of the strict guidelines offered up by U.S. broadband carriers, many of the smartphones will never come to the U.S.

This phone is made by a Dutch company, and it's a nice looking device, thought nothing to contend with the HTC One X. It's a 3.8-inch screen device with Gorilla Glass, dual cameras and Android 4.0 on board. It also features Bang & Olufsen audio integration and can be used as an IR remote control for your other home gadgets. There's no word on any U.S. release info, but it's said to cost around $650 for an unsubsidized version.

HTC's One X is sure to attract tons of accessory attention due to it's flagship nature, but HTC is already working on their own accessories. One is the car dock, and it gives easy access to the interface by making the capacitive navigation and music buttons more accessible while charging it via USB. The media dock is still being worked on, so HTC had it hidden in a case, but it uses the One X's five-pin dock connector to charge the device and send audio out.

Asus announced the Padfone on day one, but it's so unique, we decided to feature here as well. It's really three items in one, but the way they all fit together is very innovative. The phone itself is a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED affair with Android 4.0, dual cameras and even a Fujitsu made image processor for fast, dynamic photo action. The phone then hooks the back of a touchscreen tablet and powers the 10.1-inch screen on that. Finally, an add-on keyboard dock, like the ones Asus already uses for its Transformer series of tablets, also connects to make a notebook computer out of the whole thing.

Intel is working its processors into mobile phones, a feat made difficult until now because of the limited power available in handheld devices. But, the Atom Z2460 Medfield processor made an appearance in a couple of nice phones from Lava and Santa Clara. Lava will be available in India, and the Santa Clara will debut in the UK. Lenovo showed off an Intel-powered device at CES in January, but again, it's only in China for now. The Santa Clara is a 4-inch phone with Android 2.3 and the Lava Xolo X900 is the other new device running the 1.6 GHz system by Intel.

This fun feature allows for switching back and forth between high quality voice and high resolution video call modes during an ongoing telephone conversation. LG also showed off a video sharing service, that does real-time sharing of videos over an LTE network, as they are being recorded.

It's not an SLR camera, so it doesn't cost $750, but the DSC-HX200V does have a huge 30x optical zoom lens and sizable 18 megapixel image sensor. It goes on sale in March for $480.

Microsoft announced it would update Windows Phone 7 with a new system called Tango, starting in April. It features the ability to export contacts to the SIM card, manage domestic and international roaming, and include multiple attachments in a single MMS message. It also lowers the system requirements for Windows Phone devices. That way, manufacturers can use the software on lower priced models with slower processors and less memory.

A Google VP of Engineering for mobile, Hiroshi Lockheimer, hinted the launch of Android 5.0 will come in 2012 by saying Android will get one major update per year. Jelly Bean is not even the confirmed name of the new system, but J is the next letter in the alphabet and Google had a huge jar of jellybeans mounted at their MWC booth on day one. One rumored feature is called Android @ Home, and would let you control your lights, thermostat and other gadgets at home right from your mobile device.

An updated version of the 10.1 tablet, the Note tab adds similar functions to the Note smartphone, namely, the S Pen stylus and its attendant software. Hardware-wise the only new feature is the 1.4Ghz dual-core Exynos processor made by Samsung.

Watch your favorite HBO shows on the Xbox 360 beginning April 1, HBO Co-President Eric Kessler announced Feb. 27. Sadly, many cable companies will not allow the app to be compatible without already having a paid subscription to HBO. Check with your provider.
