As the "Twilight" phenomenon settles down, Robert Pattinson is proving that he has no plans to exit the spotlight. The British heartthrob (referred to by the tabloids as R-Patz) has been promoting the sexy new period drama "Bel-Ami," a stunning foray into the lusty affairs of a Parisian lawyer, named George Duroy. Based on the novel by Guy de Maupassant, it captures the social conflicts of the 19th century as well as the Belle époque, a period of unparalleled French advancement.

According to The Improper, a new 30-second TV spot hit the UK's Film4.com last night. Though it's lacking in quality, the quick cuts of Pattinson bedding the likes of Uma Thurman, Christina Ricci and Kristin Scott Thomas are sure to lure female fans to theaters. And if that's not enough, there's plenty of alluring drama to be found in the story. George mercilessly climbs the social ladder, even if it means seducing his close friend's wife.

The film is set to make the rounds at the Berlin Film Festival (where the film will premiere Friday) and the Glasgow Film Festival. It is unclear when the film will be released in the U.S., though it could be as soon as March 29. But "Bel Ami" ranks as only the third most anticipated Robert Pattinson film of 2012, behind David Cronenberg's "Cosmopolis" and the eagerly anticipated "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2."
