Welker dropped a key pass in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl XLVI Sunday night that contributed to the team's 21-17 loss to the New York Giants.

"We're giving Boston a late morning snack to get over Sunday's loss #butterfingers," wrote the company on their Twitter feed, @Pawngo.

PR professional Lise Keeney tweeted the pic, which showed the mountain of Butterfingers at Copley Square. An unidentified girl held a sign with Pawngo's logo that read, "Thank you, Wes Welker."

The candy avalanche is undoubtedly a publicity stunt, but you have got to hand it to the folks at Pawngo for cleverness.

Welker, a veteran receiver, clearly felt awful about the fumble. After the game on ESPN, he took the blame for his team's sudden loss.

"That's a play I make a thousand times," he said, voice cracking. "I just didn't make it."

If Welker didn't feel bad enough already, quarterback Tom Brady's supermodel wife also ripped the Patriots' receivers for their poor performance.

"My husband cannot f--king throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time," Gisele Bundchen snapped to a group of Giants fans taunting her. "I can't believe they dropped the ball so many times."
