A 52-year-old from Torrensville was arrested Tuesday night for possessing a taser disguised as a mobile phone.

The woman, who was not named, was arrested around 10 p.m. on Henley Beach Road, according to the South Australia Police. She posted bailed and is scheduled to appear before the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Feb. 14 to face charges.

In Australia, only law enforcers are allowed to use tasers. Possession, ownership and use of the weapon is restricted in all states.

The incident comes after a college student from China was arrested at New York City's Kennedy Airport for possessing a taser disguised as a flashlight.

Checkpoint screeners detected and found the stun gun inside the carry-on luggage of Sihui "Hannah" Xie while she was boarding a flight to Orlando, Florida.

The student from Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas was charged with possession of a weapon.

Taser can be carried without a permit in 43 U.S. states, except in the District of Columbia, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island,and Wisconsin, as well as certain cities and counties.
