The X Factor Results are in: Melanie Amaro has been crowned the first winner of the USA edition of the show.
In addition to winning the contest, Amaro, 19, also won a $5 million recording contract and a role in a Pepsi commercial that will air on Super Bowl XLVI.
Amaro bested her competitors Josh Krajcik (second place) and Chris Rene (third place).
When she was asked how she felt after it was announced that she won, she simply uttered “oh my god, oh my god.”
Commenting on the winning prize in back in February, show creator Simon Cowell said it was a “life-changing prize.”
Cowell was the judge who mentored Amaro while Nicole Scherzinger mentored Josh Krajcik and L.A. Reid mentored Chris Rene.
Interestingly, Cowell eliminated Amaro at point in the season. However, Cowell said he made a mistake, flew to Florida and brought Amaro back to the competition.

“America, thank you for giving this girl an opportunity. She is a star,” Cowell said, according to People.com.
Amaro eventually said “Thank you so much! I don't know what to say. Thank you. God is good.”
