Neal McDonough fired from TV job after refusing sex scenes

Former "Desperate Housewives" bad guy Neal McDonough has reportedly been sacked from a new TV series after he refused to do a sex scene. The 44-year-old actor was tapped to play opposite Virginia Madsen in the upcoming U.S. program "Scoundrels", but was abruptly replaced just three days before the filming began.

McDonough, a family man and devout Catholic, apparently refused to do heated love scenes with Madsen because of his principles. Deadline Hollywood said that the actor is strict with his values and won't do sex scenes on camera.

U.S. TV network ABC already knew that before they signed him for "Scoundrels". McDonough played the mysterious David Williams during the fifth season of the network's "Desperate Housewives". Even if he was partnered with man-eater Edie Britt, played by Nicollette Sheridan, there was never a sexy scene between the two of them.

He also did not do love scenes in his previous roles in "Boomtown" and "Medical Investigation".

McDonough, who has been replaced by former "JAG" star David James Elliot for the role, was reportedly poised to get as much as $1 million for the "Scoundrel" gig, but he admirably chose his principles over money.

A source told the website, "It has cost him jobs, but the man is sticking to his principles."
