Backstreet Boys' A.J. Mclean has proposed to his long time girlfriend, Rochelle Deanna Karadis while celebrating his 32nd birthday in Las Vegas on Jan 9. According to Radar Online, the spontaneous proposal on stage at the Hard Rock hotel's Wasted Space nightclub came to be when the deejay suddenly turned the music off, inviting McLean to the stage. McLean called his girlfriend into the stage, got down to his knees and presented a diamond ring to her.

According to eye witnesses, the surprised Karadis squatted together with him on the stage and quickly accepted the unexpected proposal. Reports say that the flamboyant musician bought the diamond ring at the Hard Rock Hotel's jewelry store just hours before the public proposal.

After the Backstreet Boys' musical hiatus, McLean became famous with his alter-ego character Johnny No name, which is a character that he uses while performing hard metal rock music in America. McLean also founded the JNN foundation to help diabetes causes and keep the music programs alive in schools.

Aside from friends of the newly-engaged Backstreet Boy on the big night, the Hard Rock Hotel was in the middle of the 'Naughty America' expo which drew a large number of audience. The adult convention was based on the 'Naughty America' website which features pornographic materials and models.
