Green Day Concert Postponed Due To Food Poisoning

Tonight's Green Day concert at the Rod Laver Arena has been postponed to tomorrow night as singer Billie-Joe Armstrong recovers from what is suspected to be a bout of food poisoning.

Feeling ill just hours before the concert was to begin, the singer had been initially adamant that the show should go on. However, he was strongly advised against it by doctors, who felt he should rest. Tonight's Melbourne show would have been the band's last show in Australia before they move on to perform in New Zealand. The band has been on tour in the country since the 4th of December.

Tour promoter Frontier Touring released the following statement: 'Although Billie-Joe was determined to perform tonight it became apparent at 4.30 p.m. today that he would be unable to take to the stage - particularly in light of the lengthy 2.5-3 hour show the band traditionally perform.' It is not known what the band had eaten earlier in the day.

Ticket holders were reassured that the tickets they held were still valid for tomorrow night's replacement concert and do not need to be exchanged. However, patrons were advised to seek an immediate refund from the original point of purchase if they were unable to attend it.
